(10 minutes from downtown Mt. Lebanon!)
300 Rockfield Circle
Pittsburgh, PA 15243
9:00 am - 1:00 pm Daily
Designed for string students ages 9-17 yrs old
(violin, viola, cello & bass)
*2 years of playing experience is recommended
to play in ensembles and groups at the festival.
Students will be placed according to age and playing experience.
There is no audition in order to attend!
(There is a voluntary seating audition on the first day if
students wish to sit at the front of the section.)
Cost: $290
Early Bird Registration $280 if registered by March 15th!
Festival Activities:
String Orchestra:
Students will participate in one of the string orchestras, directed by
TRYPO Tutti & Symphonette Conductor, Pierce Cook.
Students will play a variety of music showcasing music of the movies
and pieces that have stories intertwined.
Students will also work daily with coaches to help them learn the music.
Students will be placed by age and level.
exploration of film music:
Students will take classes led by local composer, Lucas Sherman, that explore how music is composed in film, experiment and play music accompanying movie scenes and the study the effects music has on mood and storytelling. Students will explore how music has changed through history, from early film history
to the the epic music of today's high tech movies.
Students will also learn about conducting and get the opportunity to conduct!
final showcase concert:
Friday, July 10th at 12 pm
Families and friends are invited to attend for free!
